Over the next month, players from the national teams of will compete, with the final match in the biggest Women’s World Cup yet taking place on July 7th in Lyon, France. We’re celebrating the eighth edition of the tournament with a series of Doodles by guest artists representing each of the competing countries to capture the local excitement of the competition, as well as what the event means to them personally. Stay tuned for more from the artists, and best of luck to all the players! Today's Featured Artist Q&A with early sketches and drafts of illustrations Q: What does ⚽mean to you personally? Australia – A: Community, togetherness, mateship. Brazil – England – A: I love international football and often use it as an occasion to celebrate with friends, sharing delicious food and drink whilst cheering on the teams. Italy – A: For me, football is like food. Football lives on its own universal language. It is possible to unite completely different people, distant ages, and entire nations on the same field. Jamaica – A: This year football has a special meaning for me. The Reggae Girlz have worked so hard over the past few years. Jamaican people across the world have rallied behind them with support through the Strike Hard funding campaign to get the girls to where they are now. It's so wonderful to see Jamaican women excelling and being inspiring role models for future generations. Scotland – A: Football has always had a big presence in my childhood. It is always present in shared moments with my father and brothers, where we would either celebrate or debate every match, which makes it really special.
